ESL to hold a Major with the audience — ESL One Stockholm Major 2022
Tournament organizer ESL has announced a Dota 2 Major. It is called ESL One Stockholm Major 2022 and is scheduled for May 12-22, 2022.
The tournament takes place with an audience at the Hovet Arena in Stockholm. ESL One Stockholm Major 2022 features the 18 strongest teams from each region. They competes for the $500,000 prize pool and 2,700 DPC points.
Distribution of prize money and DPC points:
- 1st place — $200,000 and 680 DPC points;
- 2nd place — $100,000 and 610 DPC points;
- 3rd place — $75,000 and 530 DPC points;
- 4th place — $50,000 and 460 DPC points;
- 5th-6th place — $25,000 and 385 DPC points;
- 7th-8th place — $12,500 and 240 DPC points.
Before the Major, we will see the DPC Spring Season. There are leagues for 6 regions, with 2 divisions each as the Winter Season. The strongest teams from each region receive invitations to the Major. The leagues run from March 14 through April 24.
The last Dota 2 Major organized by ESL was ESL One Birmingham in March 2018. Its champion was Virtus.pro. ESL was supposed to hold another Major in March 2020, ESL One Los Angeles, but it was canceled due to the pandemic.
