New member of bumble bEE's was accused of rape in 2017
The news about a team including 4 girls and 1 guy has stirred up the Dota 2 community. Reddit users found a 2017 article that a member of this team, ??Maxwell "Hotaruz" Bateman, was accused of rape.
In February 2017, ??Hotaruz was a manager of the North American organization NRG and oversaw several teams from different disciplines, including San Francisco Shock on Overwatch. In November that year, a streamer with the nickname Krystlin accused him of rape and went to the police. However, the case was closed due to insufficient evidence. Despite the acquittal, NRG fired ??Hotaruz.
The bumble bEE's team is competing in the Lower Division of the DPC: NA winter season. The competition will be held from November 29 to January 23.
